Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at the University Grenoble Alpes focused on galactosemia, a rare inherited metabolic disease. The study aimed to explore the impact of galactosemia on social cognition, psychosocial development, and well-being. The researchers found that individuals with galactosemia exhibited deficits in social cognition, including theory of mind and emotion recognition. However, there was no significant decrease in mental health. The study suggests that further research is needed to understand the relationship between psychosocial complications and deficits in social cognition among individuals with galactosemia.
