Abstract

The article discusses research findings on the use of mobile apps for treating Panic Disorder (PD) with and without Agoraphobia, highlighting a randomized controlled trial conducted in Bonn, Germany. The study evaluated a disorder-specific exposure therapy app against a mindfulness meditation app and a waiting list control group, involving 111 adults. Results indicated that the exposure app significantly reduced symptom severity and improved depressive symptoms and quality of life compared to the waiting list group, although no significant differences were found between the exposure and meditation apps. The research suggests that app-guided exposure therapy may serve as a valuable treatment option alongside traditional psychological and pharmacological methods. [Extracted from the article]
