Abstract
This article focuses on malignant mesothelioma of the tunica vaginalis, a rare and aggressive tumor arising from the mesothelial cells lining the tunica vaginalis in elderly male patients. Diagnosis relies heavily on histopathological examination and immunohistochemical staining with markers such as WT1, D2-40, and calretinin to distinguish it from other para-testicular tumors. The standard treatment is orchidectomy, which can be curative in localized cases, while advanced disease may require additional therapies including chemotherapy and radiation. Molecular alterations, including mutations in genes like BAP1 and NF2, are implicated in tumor development and may inform future targeted therapies. Prognosis depends on factors such as tumor differentiation, size, and metastasis at presentation.
