Abstract

A recent study conducted by Universite du Quebec en Outaouais in St. Jerome, Canada, explored the experiences of patients and nurses in psychiatric settings where involuntary commitment and treatments are common. The research highlighted the coercive nature of these practices, which can have negative effects on both patients and healthcare staff. The study found that patients often feel abandoned and subjected to undignified care, leading to resistance against the current practices of biomedical psychiatry. The results suggest a need for a more compassionate and patient-centered approach in psychiatric nursing care. [Extracted from the article]
