Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between pelvic list strength—the ability to generate force through maximal contralateral pelvic elevation primarily by the gluteus medius and lumbosacral lateral flexor muscles—and performance in sprinting, jumping, and agility among female collegiate basketball players. Using a portable force plate to measure pelvic list strength under free and weighted conditions, significant correlations were found between pelvic list strength and running jump height, 20-m sprint time, and Lane-agility test performance. These findings suggest that pelvic list strength may play an important role in basketball-related speed, jump, and change-of-direction abilities, highlighting its potential value in designing targeted strength training programs for basketball athletes.
