Abstract

The article focuses on a study comparing neurocognition, social cognition, and emotion regulation in adolescents aged 12-18 with bipolar spectrum disorder (BD) and disruptive mood dysregulation disorder (DMDD) to healthy adolescents. Conducted in Izmir, Turkey, the research involved 63 participants, revealing that healthy adolescents outperformed those with BD and DMDD in social cognition and emotion regulation tasks. The findings suggest that adolescents with these disorders exhibit impairments in these areas, indicating a need for targeted interventions in treatment plans to improve psychosocial functioning and clinical outcomes. The study was peer-reviewed and published in a clinical psychology journal. [Extracted from the article]
