Abstract
This article focuses on the role of bilingual neuropsychologists in presurgical epilepsy evaluations, illustrated through a case study of a 16-year-old Spanish-speaking Hispanic male with intractable epilepsy who immigrated from Mexico to the U.S. The patient underwent comprehensive bilingual assessments, including functional MRI, Wada testing, and language mapping, which supported left-hemisphere language dominance despite mixed neuroimaging results. Postoperative evaluations showed seizure freedom, academic progress, improved attention and memory, and enhanced mood linked to family reunification. The study highlights how bilingual neuropsychologists contribute to culturally informed, standardized presurgical assessments for linguistically diverse patients.
