Abstract

The author discusses an alternate approach for social workers to compassionately help grievers in 2023. Topics covered include the ineffectiveness of implementing the five stages of grief road map into a standard process amid the varying mess of human emotions, and the need for a tailored intervention for the griever due to the complex dimensions of personal loss. Also noted is the value of asking open-ended questions, rather than prescribing behavior, in helping clients find useful answers.
