Abstract
A report from the University of Bari Aldo Moro in Italy discusses the issue of dissimulation in forensic psychological and psychiatric evaluations. The researchers aimed to determine if there were significant differences in the scores of the Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory-III (MCMI-III) scales between dissimulators and non-dissimulators. The study found that dissimulators had higher scores in the Desirability, Histrionic, Narcissistic, and Compulsive scales of the MCMI-III. The researchers concluded that dissimulation can occur in forensic settings and that the MCMI-III can be a useful tool for assessing dissimulation in forensic psychiatry and psychology.
