Abstract

This study evaluated the effectiveness of specialised personnel versus schoolteachers in delivering first aid and trauma management education to children aged 4–8 years in Greece. An experimental design involving 180 students compared a control group with two intervention groups taught either by regular teachers or certified first aid instructors. Results showed no significant difference in first aid knowledge and skills acquisition between the two teaching groups, with both demonstrating significant and sustained improvements after training. The findings suggest that integrating first aid education into schools through teacher-led instruction can be a cost-effective method to equip young children with essential life-saving skills. Limitations include the lack of long-term follow-up and broader validation, indicating a need for further research.
