Abstract
This study focuses on the medical management and pregnancy outcomes of patients with Takayasu arteritis (TAK), a granulomatous large vessel vasculitis, in Japan. Analyzing 51 cases and 68 pregnancies from 2019 to 2021, the research found that most pregnancies were successfully managed with low-dose prednisolone (PSL ≤10 mg/day), with TAK relapse occurring in fewer than 20% of pregnancies during gestation and postpartum. While 20.9% of infants were preterm and 28.8% were low birth weight, no serious postnatal abnormalities were reported. The findings suggest that stable disease activity and appropriate treatment enable relatively safe pregnancies and deliveries in TAK patients.
