Abstract
A recent meta-analysis conducted by the University of Pittsburgh explored the effects of Tai Chi and Qigong (TCQ) on physical function and psychiatric symptoms in adults with schizophrenia or mood disorders. The study, which included 19 randomized clinical trials, found that TCQ significantly improved physical function and psychiatric symptoms in individuals with serious mental illness, regardless of intervention duration and comparison type. The research suggests that TCQ could be an effective non-pharmacological intervention for individuals with schizophrenia or mood disorders, highlighting the potential benefits of these practices in improving mental health outcomes.
