Abstract

This article focuses on a study reviewing clinical research trends in acupuncture treatment for drug addiction in South Korea, where drug addiction is recognized as a significant social issue. Conducted by Gachon University researchers, the study analyzed 19 randomized controlled trials from domestic and international databases, examining various acupuncture methods and their effects on withdrawal symptoms and relapse. The findings suggest acupuncture may be safe and helpful in alleviating withdrawal symptoms, but its overall effectiveness remains uncertain due to study limitations and potential biases. The research highlights the need for further systematic studies to better understand acupuncture’s role in treating drug addiction within Korean medicine. [Extracted from the article]
