Abstract

This article focuses on recent research from Chungbuk National University Hospital in Cheongju, South Korea, examining the artistic characteristics and underlying causes of autistic savant artists. The study reviews various hypotheses, including the paradoxical functional facilitation theory and the superior visual perception hypothesis, and explores the relationship between savant traits and social communication abilities. It also considers the aesthetic experiences and potential artistic talents of non-savant autistic individuals and evaluates the proposed concept of "autism savant spectrum syndromic disorder." The research concludes that more multidisciplinary and systematic studies are needed to better understand autistic savant artists.
