Abstract
This article focuses on a study conducted at Mansoura University in Egypt investigating the relationship between inner speech and auditory verbal hallucinations (AVHs) in individuals with schizophrenia. The research found a significant positive correlation between inner speech and AVHs, with cognitive insight—measured through self-reflection and self-certainty—acting as a mediator in this relationship. The study, involving 202 participants diagnosed according to DSM-5 criteria, suggests that enhancing cognitive insight could inform therapeutic strategies to better manage hallucinatory experiences in schizophrenia. These findings contribute to understanding the mechanisms underlying AVHs and highlight potential targets for cognitive-behavioral and metacognitive interventions. [Extracted from the article]
