Abstract

This article focuses on summarizing and prioritizing literature published in 2022 related to the ambulatory care medication-use process (ACMUP), which comprises six components: transitions of care, prescribing, access, dispensing, adherence, and evaluating. The ACMUP is a reimagined framework of the medication-use process (MUP) tailored to ambulatory pharmacy practice, emphasizing pharmacists' expanding roles in medication management across outpatient settings. A systematic review identified 49 impactful articles addressing these components, highlighting trends such as pharmacist-led interventions in transitions of care, antimicrobial stewardship in prescribing, access facilitation through prior authorization programs, and telehealth in evaluating medication therapy. The article underscores the importance of ongoing research and integration of evidence-based practices to optimize medication use and patient outcomes in ambulatory care environments.
