Abstract

This article focuses on assessing the knowledge and awareness of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and basic life support (BLS) among third- and fourth-year medical imaging students at Fatima College of Health Sciences (FCHS) in the United Arab Emirates. The cross-sectional survey revealed that while most students had heard of CPR, BLS, and automated external defibrillators (AEDs), over half lacked specific knowledge on how to perform CPR correctly, including the correct resuscitation sequence and chest compression depth. A significant majority (91.2%) supported making formal CPR or BLS training mandatory in their curriculum, with fourth-year students demonstrating higher knowledge levels than third-year students. The study recommends incorporating a formal CPR course into the medical imaging undergraduate program to improve students’ preparedness for emergency situations.
