Abstract

The article focuses on a study examining the Fathers for Change (F4C) program, an individual intervention for intimate partner violence (IPV) that allows optional coparent participation. Conducted in New Haven, Connecticut, the research analyzed data from 181 fathers to assess how coparent involvement, IPV risk severity, substance misuse, and race/ethnicity influenced treatment motivation, therapist alliance, and completion rates. Findings indicated that having at least one joint session with a coparent positively impacted all outcomes, while fathers' alcohol and drug misuse negatively affected their engagement and treatment success. The study suggests that coparent involvement may enhance treatment outcomes for fathers in the F4C program. [Extracted from the article]
