Motivational Interviewing: A Physician and Social Worker Partnership in Rehabilitation Healthcare.

The article examines possibility for motivational interviewing (MI) physician and social work partnership to facilitate and maximize patient potential in rehabilitation units and clinics. Topics discussed include overview on MI, patient and provider benefits of physician and social work partnership, and three skills that are very much social work aligned central to MI practice which includes active listening, patient empowerment, and empathy.
