Abstract
A recent report from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University in Dhaka, Bangladesh discusses a case of SRY-positive 46,XX testicular disorder, also known as sex reversal syndrome (SRS). The patient, a 24-year-old Indian male, presented with small testis and phallus, poor beard and mustache development, and gynecomastia. The individual was found to have hypergonadotropic hypogonadism and a 46,XX karyotype with the SRY gene on the X chromosome. The report highlights the major concerns in managing SRY-positive 46 XX male SRS cases, including infertility, hypogonadism, external genital development, and psychological distress. The recommended management strategies include testosterone therapy for hypogonadism, artificial reproductive technologies for fertility, surgical repair of genital abnormalities, and psychological and genetic counseling.
