Abstract
The article discusses DeepMind's new AI tool, AlphaGenome, which predicts the effects of genetic variants on gene expression, RNA, and protein production. This tool aims to enhance research in synthetic biology and cancer gene identification by providing a comprehensive analysis of the human genome, including both coding and noncoding regions. AlphaGenome outperforms existing models in identifying genetic features and predicting the impact of mutations, allowing researchers to focus on the most consequential genetic changes. DeepMind plans to make the tool available for academic use and is working on expanding its capabilities while addressing biosecurity concerns. [Extracted from the article]
