Abstract
This article analyzes the Toronto-based Canadian theatre company Mammalian Diving Reflex’s community-engaged performance *All the Sex I’ve Ever Had* (AtS), focusing particularly on its 2021 Gwangmyeong edition. AtS features non-professional older adults, termed “experts of age/ing,” who share autobiographical stories about their sexual lives on stage, challenging deeply rooted ageist stereotypes about older adults’ sexuality across diverse cultural contexts. The production employs relational aesthetics and a dramaturgy of accessibility by fostering intergenerational and intercultural collaboration among older performers, younger creative teams, and audiences, creating a safe space that counters ageism and expands cultural narratives of ageing. Through candid storytelling, interactive elements, and post-performance engagement, AtS reveals the heterogeneity of ageing experiences and promotes a critical reflection on societal age norms, advocating for recognition of older adults’ vitality and sexual agency.
