Abstract
This article focuses on vocational rehabilitation (VR) strategies for people with cardiovascular disease (CVD), an emerging and growing consumer population due to rising prevalence and improved survival rates. It outlines the medical, psychosocial, and vocational challenges faced by individuals with CVD, emphasizing the importance of tailored VR services that include healthcare access, workplace accommodations, employer education, and collaboration with medical and mental health professionals. The article highlights disparities in CVD incidence and outcomes among vulnerable populations and stresses the need for cyclical assessment and individualized planning to support employment retention and advancement. Recommendations include proactive outreach, comprehensive assessment, counseling, and accommodation planning to address the complex and evolving needs of people with CVD in the modern labor market.
