Abstract
Spinal cord injury (SCI) is one of the most devastating diseases globally, characterized by paralysis, sexual dysfunction, cardiovascular and respiratory complications, and bowel and bladder dysfunction (1–3). As a result, SCI has a substantial economic burden with an estimated lifetime cost per person as high as CAD 4.8 million (4). The restoration of walking is one of the field's quintessential problems, but there are very few therapies that reliably improve walking post-SCI (5). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
