Abstract
A recent report from the Department of Psychiatry highlights the phenomenon of "autistic savant," where individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) possess exceptional abilities that are incongruous with their overall mental disability. The report emphasizes that as many as one in 10 autistic individuals exhibit these remarkable skills to varying degrees. The researchers present a case study of a 29-year-old male patient who displayed symptoms of ASD and demonstrated the ability to accurately determine the day of the week for any given date, showcasing his autistic savant abilities. This rare condition is well-documented, although it occurs in other developmental disabilities or central nervous system injuries or diseases as well. [Extracted from the article]
