Abstract
The article focuses on the evolving role of glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) in obesity management, highlighting their significant efficacy in promoting weight loss and improving metabolic health. GLP-1RAs mimic natural hormones to regulate appetite and energy balance, reduce cravings, and may lower risks of cardiovascular events and related comorbidities. However, these medications do not address dietary quality, potentially leading to nutritional deficiencies, gastrointestinal side effects, and loss of lean body mass if nutrition is not carefully managed. The article emphasizes that GLP-1RA therapies should complement, not replace, comprehensive nutrition and lifestyle strategies to ensure balanced nutrient intake, optimize treatment outcomes, and support long-term health in obesity and non-communicable disease management.
