Abstract
This article focuses on a quasi-experimental study evaluating the effectiveness of interactive television-based art therapy in reducing post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms among Nigerian school children who experienced abduction. Over a 12-week intervention, participants engaged in art therapy sessions delivered via interactive television, resulting in a significant reduction in PTSD symptoms compared to a control group, with improvements sustained at a six-month follow-up. The study utilized the International Trauma Questionnaire (ITQ) for PTSD assessment and highlights interactive television as a cost-effective platform for mental health promotion, particularly for vulnerable populations with limited access to traditional therapeutic services. The findings support the integration of art therapy delivered through interactive media as a viable treatment strategy for trauma-affected children in contexts of abduction and conflict.
