Abstract
The article focuses on evaluating the effectiveness of integrated Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (MICBT) compared to the Twelve-step Narcotic Anonymous (NA) program in treating substance use disorder among Egyptian patients. In a randomized controlled trial with 60 participants, those receiving MICBT showed a significant reduction in drug use days, increased abstinence duration, and longer time to first relapse over six months compared to the NA group. The findings suggest that MICBT in group settings offers favorable clinical outcomes for substance use disorder management.
