Abstract

The article discusses the use of patidegib, a novel topical inhibitor of the Hedgehog pathway, as a promising treatment for basal cell carcinomas (BCCs) in patients with Gorlin syndrome. A randomized phase II trial showed that patidegib reduced the size of existing BCCs and prevented the development of new lesions. However, there are limitations in the study, such as the short duration and lack of histopathological confirmation of complete responses. Further research is needed to determine the long-term efficacy and safety of patidegib in managing BCCs in patients with Gorlin syndrome. [Extracted from the article]
