Abstract
This study investigates the longitudinal relationships among body satisfaction, problematic smartphone use, sleep deprivation, and psychological well-being in Turkish adolescents. Using data collected in two waves from 222 participants (mean age 14.08 years), the research found that low body satisfaction predicts increased problematic smartphone use, which in turn leads to greater sleep deprivation, ultimately resulting in reduced psychological well-being over time. Structural equation modeling supported a serial mediation model where problematic smartphone use and sleep deprivation sequentially mediate the impact of body satisfaction on adolescents' mental health. The findings highlight the importance of addressing body dissatisfaction during adolescence to mitigate associated behavioral and psychological risks.
