Abstract
This article focuses on the association between systemic inflammatory indices and the recurrence of genital warts in men. In a retrospective study of 217 male patients treated with electrocauterisation for penoscrotal warts, higher levels of the systemic immune-inflammation index (SII), neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) were observed in recurrent cases compared to primary cases, with SII identified as an independent predictor of recurrence. Although smoking prevalence was greater among recurrent patients, it was not an independent predictor within the six-month follow-up. These findings suggest that inexpensive, routinely measured inflammatory markers like SII and NLR may aid in risk stratification and follow-up planning for genital wart recurrence, warranting further prospective studies incorporating HPV genotyping and longer observation periods.
