Abstract
This article, published in Digestive Endoscopy, discusses a case of postpolypectomy syndrome (PPS) in a 20-year-old woman with familial adenomatous polyposis. The patient underwent colonoscopy and had over 100 small sessile adenomas throughout the colon, with approximately 50 in the rectum. To preserve the rectum, 40 cold-snare polypectomies (CSP) were performed. However, the patient experienced abdominal pain, nausea, and rectal bleeding after the procedure, leading to an emergency room consultation. Computed tomography scans revealed edematous thickening of the rectal wall without perforation. Conservative management with fasting and antibiotics resulted in a favorable outcome. The article highlights the need for recognition of PPS as a potential complication after multiple or extensive CSP. [Extracted from the article]
