Abstract

This article focuses on the relationship between migraine, traumatic brain injury (TBI), and subjective cognitive functioning in Veterans enrolled in the Million Veteran Program (MVP). The study analyzed self-reported cognitive symptoms from 338,217 Veterans, categorizing them into four groups: both migraine and TBI, migraine only, TBI only, and neither condition. Results indicated a graded increase in cognitive symptoms, with the highest prevalence in Veterans with both migraine and TBI, followed by those with TBI only, migraine only, and the lowest in those without either condition. These findings highlight a dose–response relationship between these diagnoses and cognitive complaints, providing a foundation for future research on the neurobiological mechanisms underlying cognitive distress in this population.
