Abstract
The article reports on the approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration of imetelstat (Rytelo), an oligonucleotide telomerase inhibitor, for adults with low- to intermediate-1 risk of myelodysplastic syndromes with transfusion-dependent anemia that has not responded to, has lost response to, or is ineligible for erythropoiesis-stimulating agents. A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, multicenter trial was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of the drug.
