Abstract

This article focuses on a rare case of anti-dipeptidyl-peptidase-like-protein 6 (DPPX) encephalitis, an autoimmune brain disease, reported in Shanghai, People's Republic of China. The patient, a 72-year-old male with a history of Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) meningitis, exhibited long-term neurological symptoms including seizures, psychiatric changes, and cognitive impairment, and was later diagnosed with gastric cancer after two years. The study highlights the diagnostic challenges and treatment course of anti-DPPX encephalitis, emphasizing the importance of screening for malignancies such as lymphoma, nasopharyngeal carcinoma, and gastric cancer in patients with latent EBV infection. This case broadens the clinical understanding of anti-DPPX encephalitis and its potential association with viral infections and cancer.
