Abstract

The article focuses on the National Association of School Nurses' (NASN) position that timely and complete vaccinations are essential to protecting school-age youth, staff, and the public from serious infectious diseases. It emphasizes that school immunization requirements should be based on rigorous scientific evidence and that vaccine exemptions should be limited to validated medical contraindications. School nurses, as professional registered nurses (RNs), play a key role in promoting immunization by providing evidence-based information, addressing vaccine hesitancy, tracking immunization records, and facilitating access to vaccines. Their leadership and collaboration with families, health professionals, and school staff help increase vaccination rates and support equitable health protection within school communities.
