Abstract
This article focuses on the final weekend of Abraham Maslow, a prominent psychologist known for his hierarchy of inborn needs and humanistic psychology, before his sudden death from a heart attack in June 1970. Based on detailed handwritten notes by Marylyn Morrell, a psychology instructor and close family friend, the account reveals Maslow’s personal life, intellectual pursuits, and plans, including his intention to write a book applying humanistic psychological theory to political and societal issues, particularly aimed at adolescents. The narrative describes Maslow’s interactions with family and friends, his reflections on topics such as group behavior under threat (amity–enmity complex), parenting, and health, as well as his warm and engaged demeanor despite health challenges. The report provides a unique, intimate perspective on Maslow’s final days and his ongoing commitment to his psychological work.
