Abstract
The article discusses the positive effects of kangaroo mother care (KMC) on the digestive system of preterm infants. The study by Çaka et al. found that KMC led to a shorter transition time to full enteral feeding and reduced feeding intolerance in preterm infants. The improved functioning of the digestive system could be attributed to increased blood flow or the release of oxytocin, which improves gut motility. Another study by Sahoo et al. showed that KMC also had a positive effect on neonatal cerebral blood flow. Further research is needed to explore these mechanisms in more detail.
