Abstract
The article discusses a study on the effectiveness and tolerability of various antidepressant classes in oncology patients with Major Depressive Disorder (MDD). Conducted in Rome, Italy, the research involved 170 oncology outpatients and evaluated the impact of treatments including tricyclic antidepressants (TCAs), selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs), and vortioxetine. Findings indicated that all antidepressant classes were similarly effective in reducing depression and anxiety, but vortioxetine was noted for its favorable tolerability, particularly among chemotherapy patients. The study highlights the importance of considering tolerability and drug interactions in the treatment of depression in cancer care. [Extracted from the article]
