Abstract
This article focuses on the analysis of Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) vaccination coverage (VC) and tuberculosis (TB) incidence in children under one year of age across Brazilian states from 2019 to 2022. The study found significant regional disparities in BCG VC, with only four states meeting the minimum recommended coverage of 90%, and an overall decline in vaccination rates during the COVID-19 pandemic period. Concurrently, TB incidence varied significantly among states, with some areas exhibiting high TB rates despite adequate vaccination coverage, likely due to factors such as treatment adherence and population vulnerability. The findings emphasize the need for targeted public health interventions to improve vaccine access and uptake, particularly in states with low coverage, to mitigate TB risk in infants.
