Sibling and School Bullying Victimization and Its Relation With Children's Subjective Well-Being in Indonesia: The Protective Role of Family and School Climate.

Abstract

This article examines how family and school climates serve as protective factors against the negative impact of sibling and school bullying victimization on children's subjective well-being (SWB) in Indonesia. Using data from 15,604 children aged 10 and 12 collected in 2017 through the Children's Worlds survey, the study found that both sibling and school bullying are associated with lower SWB, while positive family and school climates predict higher SWB. Notably, school climate moderated the adverse effects of school bullying, and family climate moderated those of sibling bullying. Additionally, students attending public schools reported unexpectedly higher levels of SWB compared to those in private schools. The study highlights the importance of supportive family and school environments in mitigating bullying's harmful effects on children's well-being within the Indonesian context.
