Abstract

This case report focuses on the multidisciplinary treatment of a transgender woman with severe gender dysphoria and comorbid psychiatric disorders, using a bio-psycho-social approach. The patient, initially a 45-year-old male miner from Slovenia with alcohol dependency and severe depression, underwent a ten-year treatment involving addiction therapy, hormone therapy, multiple surgeries, and psychological support. The treatment led to a complete medical and social transition, emotional stability, cessation of psychiatric symptoms, and family acceptance. The patient currently lives as a woman, maintains hormone therapy, abstains from alcohol, and expresses a positive body image and self-esteem.
