Abstract
This article reports on a multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial evaluating the efficacy and safety of Jingling Oral Liquid, a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) preparation, in treating children with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The study involved 85 children aged 6 to 16 years, with 40 receiving Jingling Oral Liquid and 41 receiving placebo over 8 weeks. Results showed that Jingling Oral Liquid significantly improved overall ADHD symptoms, particularly hyperactivity and impulsivity, compared to placebo, while having no significant effect on inattention scores. Safety assessments indicated no significant adverse effects or physiological changes associated with Jingling Oral Liquid, supporting its favorable safety profile. The findings suggest Jingling Oral Liquid may be a viable adjunctive treatment for ADHD, especially for hyperactive-impulsive symptoms, and contribute empirical evidence toward integrating TCM into pediatric neurodevelopmental disorder management.
