Abstract
The article focuses on the association between histological chorioamnionitis and neurodevelopmental outcomes in preterm neonates. A study reviewed medical records of neonates born before 32 weeks' gestation, comparing those born to mothers with and without histological chorioamnionitis. Results indicated that neonates from chorioamnionitis-affected pregnancies had significantly lower gestational ages and birth weights, and were at an increased risk for abnormal outcomes on the Modified Checklist for Autism in Toddlers (M-CHAT) at 24 months. The findings suggest that histological chorioamnionitis may negatively impact neurodevelopmental outcomes in preterm infants, highlighting the need for further research in this area.
