Abstract
This article focuses on comparing the effects of combining human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) with either follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) or Clomid on men with azoospermia or oligozoospermia. The study found that men treated with hCG plus FSH showed greater improvements in serum testosterone levels and total sperm counts over multiple follow-up visits compared to those receiving hCG plus Clomid. The authors suggest that hCG combined with FSH directly stimulates spermatogenesis more effectively than hCG with Clomid, which acts indirectly via pituitary stimulation. The availability of compounded FSH at reduced cost may facilitate wider use of this treatment approach for hypogonadal patients seeking improved fertility outcomes.
