Abstract
This article focuses on assessing the knowledge, confidence, and training needs of community pharmacists (CPs) in Selangor, Malaysia, regarding fall prevention and fall-risk increasing drugs (FRIDs) among older adults. The study found that while CPs were generally aware of common FRIDs like benzodiazepines and opioids, many lacked knowledge about other FRIDs and evidence-based resources such as the Beers criteria and STOPPFall. CPs also demonstrated limited confidence in recommending deprescribing of FRIDs and identified a significant need for additional training in fall prevention and medication management. The findings highlight the importance of targeted education and enhanced collaboration with other healthcare providers to empower CPs in effectively reducing fall risks in older populations.
