Abstract
This article investigates the spread of antifeminist and anti-LGBTIQ+ discourses among teenagers in Barcelona, focusing on the influence of media and the manosphere—online communities centered on masculinity and men's issues that often propagate misogynistic and hateful content. Through short-term ethnography involving 59 diverse teenagers across three educational centers, the study reveals how manosphere content shapes young men's constructions of masculinity, normalizes gender-based violence, and fosters resistance to feminist and LGBTIQ+ rights discourses. Findings highlight the role of humor, affective bonds, and influential online figures in reinforcing these perspectives, as well as the need to critically address these informal learning spaces within youth culture to promote gender equality and social justice. The research underscores the importance of media literacy and educational interventions to counteract the manosphere's impact on gender perceptions and social attitudes.
