Abstract

This article focuses on evaluating the efficacy of online cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for treating nonorganic erectile dysfunction (NOED) in reproductive-age males during the COVID-19 pandemic in Shanghai, China. In a randomized controlled trial, participants receiving online CBT alongside conventional oral medication showed significant improvements in erectile function, self-esteem, and reductions in depression and anxiety compared to a waitlist control group receiving medication alone. The study highlights the potential of online CBT as an effective adjunct to pharmacological treatment for NOED, especially amid pandemic-related healthcare access challenges. Limitations include a modest sample size and reliance on self-reported measures, suggesting the need for further research incorporating objective sexual functioning assessments.
