Abstract
This study investigates the prevalence of burnout and type A behavior pattern (TABP) among social workers in Spain and examines their associations with sociodemographic variables in a sample of 442 professionals. Using the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) and the Spanish version of the Jenkins Activity Survey, Form H (JASE-H), the study found that 10.76% of participants experienced burnout, while 33.41% were at risk, with TABP traits—particularly hostility and workload—identified as significant risk factors for burnout. Women reported higher emotional exhaustion than men, and older age correlated with increased hostility and decreased workload, while longer job tenure was linked to reduced competitiveness. The findings highlight the importance of considering TABP and sociodemographic factors in designing interventions to prevent burnout and promote well-being among social workers in Spain.
