Abstract

L'Oreal SA is recalling all lots of its acne treatment Effaclar Duo in the US due to concerns of benzene contamination, a known carcinogen. The product, made with benzoyl peroxide, was flagged by an independent lab for benzene contamination, prompting the recall. L'Oreal is working with the FDA to remove the affected product and will soon release an improved formulation. Other popular acne products have also been found to contain benzene, leading to recalls in the past. [Extracted from the article]
